chatbots in the workplace: mixed results Dave Touretzky 20 Feb 2023 01:13 EST
We often say that the introduction of AI technology will not necessarily
eliminate jobs, but will change the way people work. But what does that
actually look like? The Wall Street Journal has put out an interesting
piece on how call center workers' jobs are being affected by the
introduction of chatbot "assistants" which act somewhat like coaches and
somewhat like evaluators. The results are mixed. In some cases the
chatbots are helping to reduce call durations, but in others, they are
adding to worker stress and job dissatisfaction. The article also talks
about how AI sentiment analysis is used to evaluate calls and gauge
customer mood. It's a long article, but worth your time. See attached.
