I wouldn't put too much faith in those predictions, although I agree
there will be some upheaval, as there has been in earlier transition
periods. More people will need to "code" AI systems, but we shouldn't
assume that existing approaches to programming or using popular
software for machine learning are the only options.
There has been some encouraging progress in natural interfaces (e.g.,
speech and gesture) for teaching robots new concepts and skills. These
systems should be much easier for people to master and thus spread far
more rapidly than traditional programming expertise. This would greatly
improve the literacy landscape.
